Back to knitting

Yesterday while out doing some shopping I stopped by one of my favorite thrift stores (a local one that supports the local animal shelter) and I found this bag of lovely things. Two skeins of sock yarn, a set of bamboo needles, two crochet hooks, place markers, a book on knitting socks, and a knit counter. Not sure how the knit counter will work, but we will see. Anyway, I found all of this for a whole $2.50. The yarn still has the price on it of 8.99 each. So I am back to working on socks again. I think this yarn will make some cute socks. I will post more pictures as I work on them.

House pictures

Here are a few pictures to give you a peek into our home and what we see everyday. I love seeing pictures of other peoples homes as well. Kind of makes you feel like you are there.

First up is the kitchen, well, half of it anyway.

Next we have the living room. Can you tell we like green? Dh made the mirrors that are hanging on the wall. There are three of them. They are made with old trim that came out of my parents house. You can also see the flag throw I made for Dh before he went to Iraq. Dh bought me the cedar chest when he came home.

Here is the other side of the living room. It leads into the kitchen. We actually have two ways into the kitchen, but you can’t see the other one in any of the pictures. This is the fireplace that we bought last year for $250.00. It’s huge. We have not hooked it up yet as we are planning on moving it to a larger room some time down the road. Those two feet on the couch belong to our youngest. She is making sure the couch stays put.

And the last picture is yet another side of the living room. As you can see we love music and encourage the girls to play. We have two violins, two clarinets, banjo, dulcimer, mandolin, guitar and the piano in there. I wonder what our next instrument will be. Dd’s are asking for drums, but I just don’t know about that one.

Well, I hope you have enjoy this little peek into our home. So if I ever come across your mind you can ask yourself, I wonder which room she is cleaning today.

The next two items were gifts from DH. Not only do I love Red, I love anything Kitchen Aid.

Someone broke into my house…

That’s just the only explanation for it.  We cleaned this house yesterday from top to bottom and today it looks like it has been ransacked.  Trixie has her toys everywhere, the kitchen needs to be cleaned from dinner, the living room has books in it and the schoolroom has todays mail scattered all over.  What happened?  Dh will be home tomorrow afternoon and we have company coming this weekend so we will be cleaning again tomorrow.  I will also be pounding math into the dd’s head tomorrow.  For those from the google group, you know what I am talking about.

As for today we made our trip to the orthodontist and even got there on time.  I got out of bed around 6:45 this morning thinking that we had an hour before we had to leave but quickly realized that I was wrong.  We had to leave in 15 min.  Our appointment was at 8:00 and it takes us an hour to get there.  Yikes!  I can honestly say we were the Queens of Speed this morning.  We managed to feel all the animals and get dressed and out the door in 20 min.  Ok, so we left five minutes after we should have, but we made it on time and that’s all that matters.  And I didn’t even speed.  🙂

After the orthodontist we went to do a little shopping.  The girls got a couple more Dear America books (they love these books) and a ton of music cd’s ranging in price from .09 to 1.25, most of them were .19 each though.  I got one with instrumental hyms for .95 and I love it.  We had a blast.  Then we went to the mall and found a few things there.  Dh called me at lunch to see what we were doing and I told him we were out spending his money.  Now we are at home and I am resting in Dh’s chair with Trixie and the girls are watching a movie.  We are soooo tired.  As bad as I hate to say it, cleaning will just have to wait until tomorrow, everything except the kitchen.

Long time no post…

I have no excuse for not posting in almost 2 weeks.  I could say that we were still sick, or that I have been busy, or something else.  But the truth is, I just haven’t felt like it.  Ok, I said it.  I have just been lazy.

Well, this week Dh is going through training for work and the girls and I are trying to keep up with some sort of schedule.  Can I just say that we are failing at this task.   We did manage to get the whole house clean this morning by  10A.M.  which is  an amazing thing for us.   Tomorrow the girls have orthodontist appts. and then we will be going to do a little shopping.  Then back home to do schoolwork.  Isn’t our life exciting?  Woops, just remembered that I forgot to feed Trixie.  I’ll be right back….

Ok, Trixie is fed and so are the other dogs and the horse.  Now to feed the family.
