Here is the recipe for the dog treats that we make. We have been making them for years and our dogs love them.
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
1/4 cup nonfat dry milk
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup beef or chicken broth (I normally add 1tsp. bullion granules to 1/2 cup water for this)
Mix all dry ingredients and then add oil and broth. Stir well until blended. I sometimes use my KitchenAid for this. Roll out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/2 inch thick. I do mine a little bit thiner than that as I want to get as many as I can. If you are doing larger bones, I would go with the thicker dough. Bake at 325* for about 30 minutes. They can even cook longer if you like. Cool on a wire rack and store in an airtight container.
We also like to make these for other dogs at Christmas time. 🙂
