I have a visitor. Mr. Stress. My visitor likes to stop by often and stay for long periods of time. I politely ask my visitor to leave, but it never seems to work. My visitor never comes alone. It always brings it friends with it. First he brings his friend A Little Hot Under the Collar. You know the one. He always tries to upset you over the least little things. Next we have Mr. Tension. He is the one who likes to work with Mr. A Little Hot Under the Collar to take things just a step further. He proceeds to nag at you until the muscles in you body begin to ache, especially those in your neck. As if those two weren’t enough, they bring in another reinforcement. Mr. Headache. He then proceeds to get inside you and start banging on the inside of your head until you fell as thought you have been run over by a truck. Mr. Headache is not very nice at all. Now when you have one or two of these visitors you can sometimes deal with them by just taking some time away to yourself and listening to soothing music (they hate that) or even taking a nice nap. Sometimes however, if they feel that you are slowly starting to push them out the door that is when the reinforcement comes in. Yep, Mr. Headache again. He works his way through every fiber of your being. He turns on switches that you never knew you had. Your brain starts going into overload and then before you know it you feel like your head needs to be cut off you body because it hurts so bad. My husband often asks me why I let Mr. Stress into our home in the first place. The answer is easy. He has a key and he knows how to use it. He is like a thief in the night who sneaks in when you least expect him. At first you don’t notice that he is even there. Then one day you will feel a little nudge telling you that something just isn’t right. You are beginning to become a little upset. Then he will start showing you things in you home and start pointing out mistakes that you have made. Oh no, here we go again.
Well, right now Mr. Stress and all of his friends have set up permanent residence in my home and are hanging on. Even my Dyson couldn’t suck them out the door. So I continue to pray that the Lord will provide me with a door that only He and I have the key to.
Does my friend ever come to visit you?
