Have you ever noticed that a dog will run to a rug when you are chasing them? When they want to eat their snack? At least Trixie Belle does.
I have observed her doing this ever since she came to live with us. When someone chases her she will run around the house and then when she thinks she needs protection she runs to the rug. Her safety zone. That got me to thinking. If people were to run to the Lord when they are scared or times are tough how much better things might be in this world. So many people claim to know the Lord, but when hard times come they seem to turn their backs on Him. Why is this so? I have often heard the phrase “Oh to be a dog” they take no care to where they lie down, all that matters is that they are tired. They seem to be able to find their comfort zone almost anywhere. Why can’t we be like that with Jesus?
We should find our Rock or rug in Trixie’s case and stay there. Feeling safe. Trusting that everything will work out the Lord’s way and in his time. We are in a situation right now where we are learning to lean on the Lord more than ever before. We have to stay on our rug and know that the Lord’s will, will be done in our lives. His will, not ours. Sometimes we tend to follow our own will and not that of the Lord. It is a hard lesson learned when you come back to square one and have to start all over again, but there is the Lord right where you left him waiting for you. We have chosen to follow the Lord even though there are people who might think we are crazy for doing so. But I believe that if we follow him and stay on our “Rug” he will bless us beyond measure. I know that he already has for us. So we can all learn a lesson from Trixie Belle and run to our safety zone and stay there, knowing that He will carry us through whatever comes our way.
I go to the “Rug”, do you?
