Last night Dd #1 made one of our favorite dishes, Bacon Cheeseburger Rice.
1# ground beef
1 3/4 cups water
2/3 cup barbecue sauce
1 Tablespoon prepared mustard
2 teaspoons dried minced onion
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 cups uncooked instant rice
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/3 cup chopped dill pickles (you may need more)
5 strips of bacon, cooked and crumbled
In a large saucepan cook meat until no longer pink and drain. Add water, bbq sauce, mustard, onion and pepper. Bring to a boil; stir in rice. You can sprinkle with cheese at this point, but we usually just wait and do it ourselves. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes.
You can put the bacon and pickles on at this point or just do what we do and set it out so that everyone can do it themselves.
I didn’t get a chance to make pictures as she was cooking, but I did get a finished photo.
Forgive this last picture. I didn’t have time to edit it much.
Hope you enjoy this meal as much as we do.
