Today has been a very slow day. I guess that is because dh is gone to trainning and will not be home until late tonight. We normally go with him, but due to the fact that we are behind in our schoolwork we had to stay home. To beat it all, we didn’t even get done in school what we needed to. We did however manage to plant 4 tomato plants and 3 green pepper plants. This year we decided to plant them in 5 gallon buckets. We shall see what happens. I am not very good with plants, so I am really hoping that these make it.
I was also supposed to be painting in the bathroom today, but I didn’t. Maybe I will get some done tomorrow. I will post pictures of the bathroom when it is finished. It may take a while though.
I received dd’s Apologia Science curriculum in the mail today. I was so relieved to hear her say, “Wow, that’s a cool book”. You never know how they are going to react to new books. We are preparing for our first year of high school next year and I am so nervous. I can’t believe that dd#1 will be a freshman this next school year. Her grandparents are teaching her to drive in their hayfield. This can’t be happening. Didn’t I just come home from the hospital with her yesterday?
Dd#2 will be in 8th grade this upcoming year. I am thankful that she still acts like mama’s little baby. Although she is taller than mama is. If she doesn’t stop growing, she will have to rock me! 🙂 We have had our struggles throughout the years with her when it comes to school. She loves it, but has such a hard time with it. But I know that God has a reason that she is like she is. She is so compassionate and loving with everyone, especially animals. I could really see her being a nurse or a vet some day. However right now she wants to grow up to be a mom and take care of her family.
We have also been bird watching. We have set up several feeders around the backyard and have a telescope set up inside so we can see one of the feeders up close. We were surprised to see a beautiful woodpecker at the feeder. We have really enjoyed watching. Everytime we walk by the telescope we have to stop and look to see if one is eating.
It’s the little things that make me smile. Like just looking out the window with my girls to look at birds or all of the squirrels who are trying to raid the feeders, or just to see my girls playing outside. I am so thankful that I chose to homeschool. I wouldn’t miss out on anything that my dd’s do. Good or bad.
God is in the details and that is where we often find our happiness. I, too, feel so blessed to be homeschooling!
I like to watch the woodpeckers at the feeders, too. They are funny; partly because they are so large that they are awkward at the feeders. 😆
I am glad that we homeschool because I’ve been a part of all that they’ve learned. I get to be part of so much more of their lives.
