I just got back from picking up the girls at my parents house. My mom cried when they left. She misses them so much when they are not there. They usually go over every weekend or so. Ever since my dad’s father passed away in November my dad has just not been himself and he and my mother don’t seem to talk much right now. My dad was not close to his father, but he still loved him in his own way. All of this has really been hard on my mother. She feels so alone.
Gregg is at drill again today. They are having a retirement party for one of the guys today. He just finished 23 years with the Navy last month. It is a happy time yet a sad time for him and his family. In 2005 when the guys were training prior to going to Iraq this man lost his daughter in a car accident just two weeks after leaving for training. So they are happy with the retirement, but sad at the loss of their daughter just a little over two years ago. His wife was the omsbudsman for their det while they were gone. What a trooper she was. I don’t know how she did it.
We woke up to a light dusting of snow this morning and now the sun is shinning. I can hardly wait for spring. I am ready to plant a garden and flowers. I would love to turn my whole back yard into a flower garden. Gregg is all for it since that would mean less grass for him to mow.
Well, time to move along and get things ready for Gregg to come home. We are having oven baked pork chops for dinner and I need to get a move on.
Thanks for visiting with me.
