Hello to all my DY friends. I am so glad to see a lot of you coming over. I don’t know what I would do without you. You are like family to me.
Well today I started a new approach with school, well a new one for us anyway. I finally for the first time wrote all of todays assignments on the board and looked at the kids and said,”You are on your own”. I think they were a little frightened. I have spent so many days sitting with them making sure that they did all of their work. It is time that they learn some more responsibility. They are slow with their work today, but they know that what they don’t complete today will just be added to tomorrows work. It has taken a lot of stress off of me.
Tomorrow the girls go to the orthodontist to have their braces put on. While this is happening DH will be going for a job interview. Afterwards I am going to make a trip to AC Moore to look at yarn.
Well I’m off to clean and start dinner.
I started doing that with my kiddos when they were in about the 5-6th grade. It is automatic now.
Yarn……………..I love yarn!!!
Have fun looking at the yarn… I am working on getting the kids to just finish one assignment without asking for my help before reading the question 😀
I hope the change goes smoothly!
Yay! Yarn!
It was a big deal when I first made the kids work on their own, but now it is routine for them. The first month can be tough, but hang in there!
I’m all for the yarn as well. tension releaser?
I find each child is different as far as letting loose with the schooling. But how much things become when they finally clue and do their own thing on their own. Best wishes with the schooling.

With my kids I have begun planning the weeks lessons on Friday and Saturday. I print out 2 copies of each one’s schedule. I give them each one of their own and then I get one to keep so that I’ll know where they are supposed to be. I’m thinking of printing out 3 copies so that one can be posted on the bulletin board. They are supposed to make sure that I have all their work by the end of the week to grade and/or evaluate. If they are struggling I need to know so that I can adjust the next week’s schedule.
As for yarn 😀 I just love the stuff.
I give DS a list on Monday, that tells the weeks work. He works on his own, I help if needed & check the work daily. It really does take alot of stress away!!!
